Introduction

At Serena, protecting your personal data is of paramount importance to us. This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our app, in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Apple's App Store requirements.

Key point: Your sensitive personal data (journal, mood) is stored exclusively on your device and is never transmitted to our servers.

Data stored locally on your device

The following data is stored only on your iPhone via SwiftData and never leaves your device:

  • Your journal entries (text, photos, audio)
  • Your daily mood logs
  • Your breathing exercise sessions
  • Your progress in the wellness programs
  • Your personal preferences and settings

This data is never transmitted to Serena or to any third party. It benefits from iOS native encryption and Face ID/Touch ID protection.

Analytics data collected

In order to improve our app and measure the effectiveness of our marketing campaigns, we collect anonymized analytics data via Supabase:

  • Aggregated usage events (e.g., number of completed breathing sessions)
  • Device type and iOS version (without a unique identifier)
  • User's country (without precise location)
  • Conversion events (installation, subscription)

No personally identifiable data (name, email, journal content, mood data) is included in these analytics.

Sharing of analytics data

Anonymized analytics data is shared with our marketing partners via:

  • Meta Conversions API (CAPI) — to measure the effectiveness of our Facebook and Instagram ads
  • TikTok Events API — to measure the effectiveness of our TikTok ads

These transmissions concern aggregated and anonymized data only:

  • Conversion events (installation, trial start, subscription)
  • No personal identifier (no email, no phone number)
  • No user content (journal, mood, personal notes)

No sharing of personal data

We never sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties. Your journal content, your mood logs, and your wellness data remain strictly private and are stored solely on your device.

Data security

Your data benefits from multiple levels of protection:

  • Encrypted storage by the iOS system (Data Protection)
  • Data isolation within the app's sandbox
  • Protection via Face ID, Touch ID, or passcode
  • Secure HTTPS connections for all network communications

In-app purchases

Premium subscriptions are managed exclusively by Apple via the App Store. We neither receive nor store any payment information (bank card, banking details). See Apple's privacy policy for more information.

Your rights (GDPR)

In accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation, you have the following rights:

  • Right of access: All your personal data can be viewed directly within the app
  • Right to rectification: You can edit your entries at any time in the app
  • Right to erasure: Delete all your data via Settings → Delete my data, or uninstall the app
  • Right to portability: Export your data as a PDF (Premium feature)
  • Right to object: You can disable analytics in the app settings

  • Local data: App Settings → Delete my data, or uninstall the app
  • Analytics data: Contact us by email to request deletion

Deletion of local data is immediate and irreversible.

Changes to this policy

We reserve the right to modify this privacy policy. Any changes will be published on this page with a new update date. In the event of a significant change, we will notify you through the app.
